Hands On Simulation

CALIFIA Simulator and Sorin S-5 Heart/Lung Machine

Experience a realistic perfusion experience as you test your skills managing a host of perfusion related challenges. You will have the opportunity to manage hyper metabolic states, oxygenator failures, venous drainage problems, air embolus, aortic dissection and communication challenges. View video of CALIFIA

The CALIFIA simulator is designed to truly simulate the patient. The device reacts to whatever you do and whatever the proctor programs in. The Learner Screen is a touch screen that can provide the learner with gases, pressures, temperatures, cerebral oximetry, echo videos, a full CPB control panel. The simulator utilizes a full CPB circuit set up on a State of The Art Heart/Lung machine. It is an experience that is as real as it gets.

Each participant is assigned a simulation station rotation so that everyone has the opportunity to participate with all of the simulators. Each simulation station operates for one hour and repeats four times. Participants rotate each hour to another simulation station.

Abiomed Impella Ventricular Assist Device

Learn how to insert and properly place the Abiomed Impella utilizing their Hi-Def physiologic patient monitoring system and Anatomical Vascular Model that allows the learner to visualize what is happening inside the vascular system.

The learner will be able to view ECHO imaging and patient hemodynamics while learning optimal positioning and when re-positioning is needed.

A must for every member of the Heart Care Team.

St. Jude CentriMag

Learn proper placement and patient selection for the CentriMag VAD and how central cannulation and high flows can be achieved without hemolysis.

The learner will be able to manage the CentriMag console and tailor a circuit that fits any patient need.

AngioDynamics AngioVac

Learn patient selection and utility of the AngioVac device.

The participant will have the opportunity to handle the AngioVac catheter and to learn the different methods and insertion techniques to maximize the devices utility for the removal of undesirable intravascular material.

A must for every clinician wanted to add to their tools box.
