Single Ventricle Physiology. Alternative Technique of Long Acting Cardioplegia. Ammonia Blood Levels
September 1, 2021 @ 6:45 am - 10:00 am CDT
$51
The Vanderbilt Faculty team will discuss Single Ventricle physiology and how this affects perfusion technique during surgical correction. Our Journal Club explores alternative techniques to long acting cardioplegia for myocardial protection during open cardiac surgery. Our Knowledge Nuggets segment explores elevated Ammonia levels and what this may mean in the ECMO patient.

Tammy Sparacino Journal Club: Alternative technique of long acting cardioplegia delivery results in less hemodilution “Preparation of del-Nido cardioplegia and its delivery technique can cause significant hemodilution. The resultant effects from hemodilution are largely proportionate to the use of a dual circuit. We opted for a custom-disposable single cardioplegia circuit instead of a dual circuit.”
